Vintage P-bass pickups ?original or not
Vintage P-bass pickups ?original or not
Hey all, i am looking at these 1970 Fender P-bass pickups and i would like to know peoples opinions regarding if the internal coil wires are original or not.
I believe the internal wire is meant to be a burgundy color but the wire in these pickups are not. The seller tells me that pickups are '100 % original' but i doubt his claim. Is there anybody here that knows much about vintage Fender p-bass pickups and know if these are '100% original or not. BTW the codes on the pickups are '7170' on both pickups - not shown in these pictures provided above.
Thanks

Re: Vintage P-bass pickups ?original or not
Looks genuine to me. I've just had the original pickups from my 71 P Bass rewound by Mr Glynn in Auckland and they looked identical to this.

Hey thanks for looking at the pickups too
Yeah i think they are genuine too. I am just not 100 % sure about the internal coil wire and if the pickups have been rewound at some stage, so i would like to know from others if these pickups have been rewound or not.
Thanks

Re: Vintage P-bass pickups ?original or not
Cool to hear. The pickups i originally had asked about had sold some time ago. However, i had come across similar pickups from around the same period with similar color internal coil wire. So it would be of interest to find out more about the internal coil wire and other things to help identify pickups that are original or not.
