A place where you could go to build your own bass with tutoring/guidance

Post by bronzet » Mon May 25, 2015 5:49 pm

Hey all, i have always wanted to build my own bass guitar with the help/guidance from an actual luthier. Trouble is i dont have any equipment/tools/place to do it and i am not experienced at doing any wood work - except when i was at high school but that doesnt really count lol. Does anybody know of a place where i could go to build my own instrument in Dunedin, and have somebody help me each step of the way?
Thanks

Check out Steve Barkman, 03 4761463. He's a bloody good luthier and a nice guy.

A friend started building guitars from home about a couple of years ago and is loving it.
Spent quite a bit on good tools but he's starting to get the hang of it and is producing some nice instruments.
If you can get someone to step you through the whole process would be fantastic.
