Peavey T45 Custom Paint colour help ?

Post by pins » Tue May 11, 2010 7:02 pm

T45.jpg

I am about to paint this old T45 I recently scored, and as stupid as it seems I really dont know why I bought it in the first place. I do know It wasnt the colour that caught my eye thats for sure  ,maybe because I have never seen one before, was of USA manufacture, had 4 strings, looked quite different and was reasonably priced for its condition. So I thought it'll make a nice project to have some fun with!

Any ways I am looking for your ideas to coat the now ready to paint body,I have some ideas floating about like a metallic blue with a custom shaped silver "checker plate" style pickguard ? or is that gay ?

So who can come up with a great paint job idea ? ? Please , your thoughts/ideas are wanted, even if you reckon I should throw it in the rubbish before going any further

(sorry for crap pic :( but I took it straight to my local custom man as soon as it arrived)

Tell ya what, best idea that I like,if there is one  wins a $20 fuel voucher ! When the colour is sorted we can move onto the electrics.

IMO, a maple fretboard looks best with a darker body colour, or a bright Ferrari red (love that look).

If it was mine it would of course be a dark purple with matching headstock, sort of like:

I have a jazz that's Black with a white pick guard John, could be an interesting match ? But perhaps a bit too boring for me(no offense),and the Peavey was previously white so JR guitars told me.

The Purple looks nice Jazzbass ! Very similar colour to our guitarists main axe ! Nice.
Keep the ideas coming people.

white with a red tortoise shell pickguard would look really cool on that.

It went to the painter in May for a lake placid blue job in the end,but I made the foolish mistake of saying "no hurry mate" ,and I'm still waiting :( oh well.
Still may consider a pickguard though. :)

Looks really cool Kev77
using laquer and enamel and baking the crp out it
Not sure how well that would work on a bass though

Like Rotosound vs D'Addario, Warwick vs Fender bla bla bla - you either like 'em or you don't.
