He's actually like that. I've seen him perform at a couple of private functions. He asks for $50, a meat pie, and to be finished by 11pm cause thats the last bus to Manurewa haha.

Waynes the man! And hes in no way taking the piss either - straight up genuine old school style crooner - a bit nutty though I must say - I just saw him the other day walking down Queen St half mumbling half singing to himself LOL

ha ha ... I'd say eccentric.
As a tv skeptic it's taken a few episodes to believe that he is genuine.
Which makes him all that more entertaining really!

the sleeves on the wall of the recording booth was way cool.
I was thinking you must be a serious fan to get that stuff.
I think even "What's New Pussycat" was on show.

had an interesting conversation with an "established" musician about this series specifically pertaining to funding.

er?

the shrine to Tom Jones was amazing. A serious vinyl collection.
best use of "What's New Pussycat" is in a Comic Strip presents film "Mr Jolly lives next door". Very funny.

?

funding "discussion" was the old art vs commerce thing every musician has an opinion on. Why fund Anderson when there are genuinely talented people missing out? My argument was that funding is entertainment/commerce not "culture", people consider Anderson entertainment, hence he is eligible for subsidy/grant.

we've sort of skirted around this on about 4 different threads now... are we too nice to have a go at NZOA on these boards :)
