Want a 'stand in' gig?

Post by Mr Glyn » Wed Aug 29, 2007 9:42 am

Hi all,
I've got a problem and maybe one of you could help. We've got a gig booked on 22nd Sept and our bass player can't do it.
Is there anyone out there who wants a one off stand in gig?
Our band is 'The Butchers of Sackville', we're a rock covers band - Green Day, U2, Jet etc. - we've been going for years are based in Auckland and do a gig or two a month. We're a party band, no slow songs, and people get very drunk and jump about all night which is just what we want then to do.
Its a nice little gig (a 40th) at a venue we've played at before to people who've seen us before and asked us back so we know its going to be a fun event.
Our bass player's rig can be available if needed but unfortunately there's not a great deal of money in this one.
Anyone interested?
There are no egos in this band, no internal politics, we just love playing.
Glyn

I'm playing that night, bugger, would've been a bit of fun playing some rocky rocky stuff, haven't done much of that for a while.

Let us know who does the gig, and you can give us a write up on how they go ;)

Far out, checked out the song list and know only 10 of the 62 songs in the list, can easily work out 14 others, but still leaves me well short, threrefore I have to pass the opportunity along to some other bass brother, sorry Mr Glyn, (i cant believe it, my band have 110 songs in repertoire I really must be an old bugger :( have emailed you of abdication ), could well wing it but feel you need someone who knows most of the numbers.

Hey thanks anyway Dude,
cheers for considering it.
Yea most of what we do are 90's n 00's stuff. We pretty much aim at folk that listen to 'The Rock'. Is there anyone else out there?

Hi Raynor,
cheers for your interest Mate but I think we've found someone. He's seen the set list and agreed to the money and seems well up for it. Can't be 100% til he practices with us on Tues - we might just scare him off!
If it falls through I'll be straight back to ya though
Thanks
Glyn

Now I'm intrigued, if Ryla doesn't know the setlist, what hope do some of us others have?
How about posting the list?

Caveat - in my world, there is NO MUSIC after 1979. :)

Hi Jazzbass,
yea seem to have found the chink in his armour. I'd love to post the set list and I would if I was only a bit more computer literate. Got any tips for doing it? Its in Excel.

Can you not just select everything, copy and paste it into here?

You can just paste direct into here. it will put tabs between columns, so it can look ugly if you use a lot of columns, but for a list it should be fine....

Good Luck with your temp bass player. Pity though as I will not be available if your stand in bass player fails.I do not like being second best.I also play a mean lead guitar or rhythm and I play drums. And to top that,I won the battle of the bands as best bass player 7 times in a row.I use a 1000watt Behringer amp with 4 boxes and a Marshall B180 as a foldback.A 1968 Fender Precision and an Ibanez E680, are my bass guitars. I sing a backing vocal, also in falsetto ( Alone by Heart) as an example.I also have a Peavy 600w pa system. And I can back this all up. Your loss mate. You may think I am a ass#### but I am a damn good bass playing
ass####. I am the man.
