Hey Harley, what shipping costs does just strings.com charge?, I see they dont do surface mail outside the US and airmail is $40.ooUS - If the strings I want to order cost $30.oo US, what would the all up charge be - any ideas?

Came across this place a while ago, haven't ordered anything yet but might give them a try sometime soon. Anyone used them before?

Ummmm....40 + 30 makes 70. At today's rate that's about $NZ 94.00 per set - expensive

The trick is not to buy one set. Buy at least 3 or four sets at a time, the shipping cost remains the same.

4 x 30 = 120 + 40 = 160 divided by 4 = $US 40 = $NZ 54.00 per set - almost half the price

Find some friends wanting the same strings if you don't want to get 4 sets.

Their range isn't as good as Juststrings.com. For example in D'Addarios, they only have regular ( 34" ) scale length. If you have a fender jazz special 5 for instance, the regular set won't reach for the D string - you need super long scale sets

Their shipping costs are very very good though - $US14.95 for USPS 5-10 days and $US29.95 for 2-5 days.

Pity they do not have the range, if you need extra longs strings.....like I do

You're welcome.

Juststrings shipping price for 10 sets is still the $US40.00 !!! And you could get 10 different types if you wanted.

With $NZ1:00 = $US 0.78 - they still are cheap ! Now's the time to buy heaps of them.

I just got a hold of a set of Elixir lights 45-100 round wounds. These have an 'ultra thin coating' which is supposed to keep tone '3-5x longer'.
It'll be interesting to see if they do last longer so I'll post a little review once I get around to trying them out.

Ok cool. I'm planning on fitting them to my Sterling also. There are mixed reviews online about them so it'll be interesting.

Where did you get them Steve? I have been keeping an eye out for a set to try but haven't seen them. I really like their guitar strings and have wondered what they are like on bass.

Music Planet... On special at $69.95 at the moment so they ain't cheapies but if they keep their tone as long as they say then it'll be worth it.
