Bass guitar stand alternative?
Bass guitar stand alternative?
I sit me bass on a conventional guitar stand onstage - 2 problems, (1) my cable is threaded behind the strap - when i pick the bass up to play sometimes the cable hooks one of the prongs it sits on and i wind up picking up the stand as well (not nice on the output jack) - (2) bass sits awkwardly as cable lies on right prong instead of bottom of bass (makes for precarious -sitting bass and again not good for output jack). any ideas? how do you sit your bass onstage?

Needs no taste either

Re: Bass guitar stand alternative?
there is a velcro thingy that either sticks to your amp if it is carpeted or wraps around the handle if it isnt
Bass sits on the floor then the thingy wraps around the neck trapping it securely
It is made by MARKBASS pm me if you want more info or cant find it on the net

When I get around to it, I'm going to make a fold-out neck grabber type of device to mount to the side of my top 2x10 cab. Same kind of thing Simon is referring to. Beats lugging a big, annoying, funny shaped stand along.

i've bolted a long wide strip of velcro to the side of one of my cabinets (after hearing about the MB version some time ago). works well enough.
tho i'm more used to leaning my bass against the cabinet grill so don't tend to use stands much at all.

I've put T-nuts and hex bolts on the side of my top cab to mount a Hercules hook.
Maybe I'll add bolts on the other side too, as sometimes the setup favors one side more than the other.

I have a allen key in the bass case if I ever need to move it.

I'm still stuck on the whole "getting around to it" part.ryla wrote: im keen to see what ash's idea looks like tho.

You could get a wide strip of industrial velcro and make a neck-wrap kind of thing like you see inside some gig-bags. 100mm of hook and 100mm of loop sewn or glued together and fixed to the cab in the middle.
And if your cab has rat-fur covering another piece of velcro could secure it to the cab.
