Off the top of my head: Amos Heller (currently with Taylor Swift Band - Jazz), Mike Dirnt (Green Day - Precision), Pete Wentz (Fallout Boy - Precision). Forgot what Rick Savage (Def Leppard) plays.

Japanese bassists:
OKP-Star (Tomohisa Okada) - Aqua Timez.
Bassist for the Angel Beats! Project. Fascinating bass tone.
A-boom boom boom boom!

Another one for John Deacon (Queen). He's retired from the music industry now. Must have made too much money. Also Bernie Edwards (Chic, Sister Sledge) - Some of the best known grooves in the industry. Mark King (Level 42). No wonder he wears gaffa tape on his thumb. Saw a video on YouTube of his in the studio explaining his style - poor quality but pure content.

Not at all. He was a solid player. I say was because I saw a recent video of Happy Anniversary on Youtube and I was disappointed. He was still singing as normal, and playing, but not the great funky line we all expect for that song.

Hi,

Wayne Nelson joined after that song was recorded, the bassist on Happy Anniversary was George McArdle.

I did not know that. However, if I was presented with a song with such a strong bass part, I would do my best to play that line as recorded. Even more so if it was the same band (at least in name).

Absolutely,

Whomever the player was I have always liked the lines and feel on a lot of LRB tracks.
They inspire you to learn new approaches to songs.

So true. Years ago, I had a video I think i recorded off "Radio With Pictures" of LRB with John Farnham. Wish I still had it now. You don't realize what you had at the time, but years down the track you wish you still had these archived goodies.

One of my tutors at School of Creative Musicianship was Hal Tupaia who was bassist for LRB in late 90s.

i second that!
tom morello gets alot of love (deservedly) for his gat work, but timmy c aka y tim k aka tim commerford is under-rated. he sets up the mean ferocious rhythms for rage and audioslve.
I third that. Timmy c is a beast.
