probably worth a go. Personally I'd prefer a headless Status but potentially bang for $ on this Bass is very good.

Its my listing so I'm a bit biased as to whether its hot or not. :D

Anyhoo, I've reduced the reserve to $1200, buy now to $1600. I'm not going to go any lower so if theres no takers at this price, it stays on its stand.

the wooden neck Status basses are highly under rated. If they weren't seen as the poor cousin to the graphite necked models, they'd probably sell for more. Neck profile tends to be a little squarish, like they've taken a 4 string neck, sliced it down the middle and inserted an extra laminate to give the width. But its not uncomfortable at all. Nice growly sound without the brittle attack too.
Stuff: Shuker Headless MIDI 6, Spector NS5CRFM, Self-built 5 string semi hollow headless, Status Series 1 5 string, Pedulla Pentabuzz, Alembic Series 1 graphite, '78 Musicman Stingray, Genz Benz Shuttles, Trace Hexavalve and fEARless F112 cabs

geez, give the Ibanez Ric a break you bunch of elitists...those basses actually sound and play bloody marvellous, some better than the "real" thing.

funny thing how a large number of "lawsuit" instruments are treated as horrible budget jokes that can't hold a candle, when in fact in a lot of cases the construction methods were at least on a par, if not better.

if i had the coin i'd probably be all over it.

that rusty-as-fck 4001 (a real one) on Tardme at the moment looks kinda interesting. could be a turd though, messing with truss rods is never a good idea.

... And it's had some neck damage at some point too. Not good. But, those Rick-O-Sound boxes are rare as hen's teeth these days.

Hi Crazykiwi ... seller says it's a 35" scale - does that sound right for this model? Were most of the Status 5ers of that era 35" or did he do some in 34"? And would you say the neck is wider than a Fender 5? Looks like the string spacing is about the same. I suspect my search for the perfect 34" narrow-spaced 5er will go on ... :(

i did like the seller's comments about the lousy intonation...then looking at the amount of rust on the strings, and the fact that the saddles haven't been adjusted whatsoever, it doesn't surprise me!

yeah, you could probably get some good $$ for an original rick-o-sound if sold on eBay. myself, i've just used a stereo splitter cable - MUCH cheaper! ;)

yeah i'd be well keen on that...but not at that price. but you don't see the long-scale version that often, and definitely not in that color (most/all i've ever seen have been natural).
