Female Bass Players

Post by Pablo Basso » Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:09 pm

Something I've always wondered was how many Bass Players here are female? It seems to be a male dominated instrument, but I know there are exceptions.

Could be a sensitive topic. I don't mean to be sexist or anything, but off the top of my head I can only name three of note-Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Suzi Quatro, and Kim Deal.

Uhmm... there's that Esperanza Spalding one, she's really making a name for herself. Oh, and Tal Wilkenfeld.

Both are incredibly talented.
I guess only a tiny percentage of posts on this site have been by females.... unsure as to the sex of members tho.

Only one that matters is Kim Deal.

The OP was asking as marty just pointed out "how many Bass Players here are female? "

although lots of great female bass players have been mentioned as of my post there appears to be none posting "here",sad
as a mere male i have always found female instrumentalists to be very intriguing, especially bass players, but bass playing ability aside, looks can also be a factor too.

Miss Piggy was the most active (only?) female poster here. And she had one of the best avatars too. Sadly, she doesn't drop by very much now.
