:D Just a quick question, Im 28 years old and havnt been in a band for ages, I have experiance and can play adequately, but am having dificulty trying to get back into a band, lots of people who arnt seriouse about playing around at the moment.
Should I cut my losses and give up or just keep on keepin on, with the practice?
Thoughts please?

welcome to the site. keep it up. . i understand where you are coming from.
i just joined a band after a 5 or 6 year break (had a kid) im 31. had the same thoughts as you and most of the musos i know were either not playing or in bands.
ended up answering a classfied add from the rock shop site.
keep practicing never know whats around the corner

Take this "downtime" as an oppurtunity to spend time on songwriting.

You are not old, if playing music is what you want to do then don't give up.

Howdy Lance... welcome!
There are opportunities for bass players of all levels out there... I hear a lot that bass players are the hardest positions to fill.. cool huh 8)
I think you just need to be proactive, extend your circle of musicians and get out there.
Johns suggestion about the rock shop classifieds is a good one and you could also place a notice on our 'Bass Players Available' page: http://www.bassplayer.co.nz/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=8
It can take a lot of guts to go out and meet musos you don't know but I gaurantee that you'll be rewarded in the long run.
Also once you do find a band that you want to commit to... you should still try and find other people to jam or play with as well... that way you won't get back into the situation you are in now.
Variety is the spice of life and playing with multiple groups can take your experiences and skills to new levels. 8)
