Experiment with different timings

I guess every bassist in the world plays Money (Pink Floyd) as an example of slightly different timings/patterns and yes, to throw the drummer into a fit is a bonus for sure. :D

IMO, learning to play different riffs and feels is essential for us bottom liners.

Here's one I enjoy - listen and nail that timing, its very cool.

What suggestions do you have for songs where the bass timing is a little different to root and 7th, or std walking pattern feel?
It doesn't matter what the song is, or even if you don't dig the number, just looking for different feels to extend that arsenal.

IMO learning to play with Steve Gadd is the finishing line :)

Lazy Snake - Dave Holland
Spectrum - Billy Cobham (w/Ron Carter)
Take 5 - Dave Brubeck (heard CK play the melody of this)

rocky stuff maybe "Black Dog" (?) Led Zep

every Bass Player should be able to cop 3/4 and 12/8 IMO
