wow - that's some serious coin right there!

I tried a Rick a few years ago because I thought they looked so cool, but it was the heaviest thing I've ever put around my neck!

Thanks guys! Yeah, some of 'em seem to be a bit heavier than others, but I've used a few Fenders that were kinda heavy too.

One of these days I'm gonna have to get a pic with the rest of 'em...

OK, a few pics of the newest one, yeah, they're dealer pics. I only got to see it for about 30 minutes whilst in the US a week ago...

That's RIC's new 'W' series 4003. I first got to play one at the NAMM show in L.A. back in January and just had to have one.

I'm not exactly sure when it'll get here, a couple of months I suppose. It'll arrive with the rest of our stuff when the container gets here...
:(

Until then I'll just have to make do with this one...

I have built up a real fascination for Ric's over the years, and in 20+ years of playing I have yet to hold one in the flesh....

Yeah, they seem to be fairly rare (and expensive) here in NZ. Though John Hall, the CEO of Rickenbacker tells me they have appointed a new distributor in Australia (used to have to go through Japan), so hopefully that'll help with the supply and prices...

I was fortunate enough to get a brand new mapleglo Ric at a great price recently from a local enthusiast/collector. Couldn't believe my luck. As with most new Rics (according to the forums) I had to spend a while setting it up - especially cutting the nut and adjusting the truss rod and bridge - but now she plays like a dream and sings like a bird. The experience has totally altered my impression of Rics, the new ones have a push/pull switch which allows easy access to the vintage bright tone or a more full range tone. Incredibly versatile instruments tonally and the neck is super fast with a low action but no fret buzz. I can get a tone very similar to my vintage jazz through to a P and the beast seems to have a natural punch to it which is quite addictive. I am surprised to find it actually suits blues quite nicely too.

 sorry potatoes but you gave me serious gas over your genuine Sterling, and when I saw one of these in 3tsb with maple neck and vintage frets, what else could I do ?.......It's a sickness :?
