Re: Barefaced.

Yep, introductory price :D . I fully understand what you mean about being practical. The 810 stored outside is becoming somewhat a thing of nostalgia  as modern PA support and advancing age lessens its attraction. I am rather hoping that the Four 10 will become a do all cab for me - smaller, li...

Re: Barefaced.

On ya, Marty. And to further add to the Barefaced stocks in Hawkes Bay I have just ordered one of the new Four 10 cabs at their special introductory price :D . Won't get a chance to gig it for a while as we are just starting to put the band back together again (in the words of the Blues Brothers) af...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Yep just delivered it to the new owner, Marty. While I enjoyed picking it up occasionally at home it was never a go to bass for me at gigs. Current love is a custom shop 59 relic precision which I picked up second hand through Richie. Still had to pay top dollar for it despite Richie working hard on...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Yep, it is an absolutely and literally mint, brand new Jaco Pastorius Artist Signature Fretless Jazz Bass. Has tone to die for. I simply do not play it and probably should never have bought it (especially for a project that simply never got off the ground). Guess I am just an old-fashioned fretsman :D

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Yeah, saw that. If you can get it for under 500 it might be worth it. First thing would be to strip it back to natural. I am pretty sure those were active basses with an active/passive switch, so even though the seller says it "works" that might only be in passive mode. Bit of a gamble but could pot...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Interesting that you should say that, Davo, as I have a CS59 P myself and I would agree with you. I bought my CS64 Jazz as a pair with the CS59 P. Both closet classics. The CS59 P is absolute magic and stuns everyone who plays it, the J played beautifully but seemed to lack something in tone (or dar...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Yep, I can understand that although I do happily gig my 63, just can't see the point of owning it otherwise. I have owned a couple of 62RIs in the past, but for some reason both of them had neck issues which I understand was not unheard of for these at one time. Tone was great though. I was gambling...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Made a half-hearted attempt at the 62RI Jazz. Don't need it at all, so didn't want to get into a bidding war on a bass just because it was a (very) good price. Whoever bid against me probably did me a favour as I couldn't see me favouring it over the 63 J or the fiftieth anniversary J which was a re...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Well, "64P" went for over 2 1/2k. Probably a fair price but way too many questions on it for me to bid, I tried to use the questions facility so people were aware of any possible issues. Effectively, and without being able to physically examine it, it was a refretted 64 neck with possible issues on ...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Yes, you would expect an L series plate although Fender were renowned for bulk buying and just grabbing the plates in no particular order from a bin which has caused quite a few anomalies and discrepancies to collectors. The neck plate on this is also stamped F which is another clear pointer to it b...

That 64 P is a gift if it is as stated, even given the pickup is not original.

Genzler - the new Genz Benz

Due out September, I believe and the cabs look pretty exciting with line array 3" mid/tweeters. Genzler Amplification is Jeff Genz's new company after Genz Benz - I just hope Rockshop or one of the others brings them in as I think they did Genz Benz, but then Fender had taken over GB. Otherwise we a...

Re: Insurance

Just posted this response on the other thread too: In my experience it is not covered under normal household insurance if you are a working musician i.e if you gig for pay, even occasionally. I have my gear insured under a separate business insurance cover through State - costs me about $600 a year ...
