Re: The Ten Commandments of Bass ...

Segway on a zombie thread... A woman is charged with beating her bass-player husband to death with his basses. She appears before the judge, and after pleading guilty to the charge, the judge asks her, "First offender?". She replies, "No, first I used one of his hollowbody basses. When that broke, I...

Re: Where can I buy nitrocellulose lacquer in NZ?

Sorted! :D I have the Technical Data Sheet for nitrocellulose lacquer. The product name is 262 Speedlac (PGG Industries Industrial Coatings). They had it in stock in Rainbow Paint in Dunedin so shouldn't be too hard to get. You can get it in a small can, which is what I assume you are after Tim, but...

Re: Where can I buy nitrocellulose lacquer in NZ?

Mmmm - I need to do a little more research for you Tim. I have found that can, and it has the following on the label 849-2-12000 Precat Clear I got it from Rainbow Paint in Dunedin. I had an acoustic guitar to finish and I said to my luthier (Steve Barkman) that I wanted to do a nitrocellulose finis...

I got some in a spray can from a paint store here in Dunedin. I'll find the product name for you when I get home.

Re: My Latest Obsession and Reason

Yeah, sorry to hear about your brother.

I had road bikes in the 80s/90s. Still wish I did on nice sunny days. Maybe it is time for another mid-life crisis  Post some pics

Re: Guitar repairer/luthier in Dunedin

Steve Barkman is my go-to guy. His workshop is in Broad Bay so a little out of town. I can find his number if you want it. There is a another guy who works out of downstairs in the Dunedin Rockshop. I've never used him, but friends who have had some work done by him have been happy. Just gonto the R...

Re: Teaser - next project

To give an idea of perspective, here it is with the neck sitting in place. Probably a little hard to see the pencil line in this one, but hopefully enough to get the idea

Re: Teaser - next project

Somewhat overdue for an update. Haven't had too much time to work on the neck over summer, but have finished shaping the neck and just down to the fine sanding. I have sealed the neck with shellac and oiled the fingerboard, so it now looks pretty much what it will be like when finished. The shellac ...

Ohhh - nice Foal. Feeling a little Tobias envy. Now you just need an MTD 535 and you are set.
