Re: Poll :: Bright New Strings vs Old Dull Strings

New strings all the way for me :D
If I suffer from too much brightness(which is more of a venue issue normally) I have plenty of tone adjustments.

Re: I can clean your strings really well!

Funny how we all differ, but thats the spice of life for ya ! I gave up on trying to bring old strings back to life 20 years ago. I totally detest "old strings",to me strings are "off" after a Fri/Sat night of gigs.I would fit new strings every week if I could afford to. I love the sparkle new string...

Re: What's your rig?

Yes Jazzbass that's the way I view new gear these days too.

I even spent last weekend cutting my 15" speaker bin in half all in the sake of portability.
Probably reduced its output by half too,but at least I can carry it alone now !

Re: Non Nickel Strings

Silk gloves huh ? Never heard of that one before ! I feel for you guys with hand/skin issues.Must be an awful thing, and was unaware of such reactions to strings. As a mechanic since 1981(my mundane day job) I am in a similar situation when it comes to hands and fingers..cuts,bruises,(and large crack...

Re: Hi from Napier

Yes its all up and running after a group of 7 locals/muso's,inc Ian Morris and our bands drummer, made it happen once again around a year ago. It has recently changed management and I hope it continues to offer a great venue for locals and visitors alike. I have played some "memorable" (just) gigs i...

I hope your guitarist has first dibs on it,after all, regardless of a claim,it is still legally his.I would want it back if it were mine.

Re: Peavey T45 Custom Paint colour help ?

I have a jazz that's Black with a white pick guard John, could be an interesting match ? But perhaps a bit too boring for me(no offense),and the Peavey was previously white so JR guitars told me. The Purple looks nice Jazzbass ! Very similar colour to our guitarists main axe ! Nice. Keep the ideas co...

Re: What's your rig?

This is my bread an butter....never need to crank the Sunn past 2-3 on the volume, best amp i have owned and would never sell it. As I get older and things get heavier those little MarkBass amps look appealing.I did try one at a gig when the Sunn was being serviced and I was impressed to a degree :wi...

Re: They stole three bass guitars....gutted!

After reading this thread last night,I went out to the shed and took photos of all my gear and recorded all the serial numbers. Most of the stuff I have owned for 10-20 years and never bothered taking any details. Hope the stolen Bass's turn up.Will keep an eye out for you in Hawkes Bay.I would be ju...

Hi from Napier

Hi everybody. :D My name is Chris and live in sunny Napier.I have been playing Bass in local covers bands for just over 23 odd years now. I got thrown into playing Bass at the deep end at the ripe age of 23 by 2 flatmates(drummer and guitarist)and just taught myself as best as I could. Before that I...
