Practice places in Wellington

Due to a set of circumstances, we can't practice in our normal place in our guitarist's garage for the next month... Where are some (cheaper) places to rent out in central wellington? A proper rehearsal space/studio is fine if not too pricey but we would be happy with just an empty room somewhere (w...

Re: Getting through customs

1200CAD,

According to the guy on the phone, if it's over 1000NZD it has GST to pay and I have to get a client number to do that as I have to do it in person. At least I now know what I'm doing now though. But I was surprised at the higher difficulty here....

Getting through customs

So, I bought a bass a short while ago online from Canada. Today I found the joys of bringing semi-expensive goods in from overseas haha. Turns out you've got to get a Client Code with customs then go in person to an office to clear the item and pay the taxes. Anybody else had experience like this in...

Re: New lead time

Maybe I should just try EWI then...? Just because they are cheap to buy and easy to fix.

A broken lead is quite the annoying problem. I've just recently found that it's a sporadic issue. It works but fuzzles in and out so not quite totally broken yet...

Re: Microphone to a computer

Cheers,
yeah figured that would be the problem.
I'm gonna take him and do it at uni. Better equipment and easier to do and (though I'm yet to ask) they seem quite friendly towards us doing stuff like that.

Microphone to a computer

Ok, not quite bass but still recording. My brother is doing a college science fair project on headphones. Hence we need to use a microphone to record a sound through the headphone into audacity for a audio spectrum analysis. However the microphone (my Band's AKG D5) doesn't work through a simple 1/4...

New lead time

Ok, you're all gonna moan. "This has been asked so many times before!" But, my Planet Waves lead is in-between working and crapping out. I need a new one. I am going to go into the RS where I got it soon but there's the large possibility that the cable is not in my account. But I'm thinking of chang...

Re: Show us your pedals

http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5310/5615863030_0d26ab6973_z.jpg :D Some free wood lying around, some Selly's Liquid Nails (to join the wood together), a quick paint job over two days. I'm pretty happy. I may only have three, but even three is irritating to setup every time. And I hope for more peda...

Potench, would we have mutual friends in that case?

160 songs -
We are still far from that!

Re: Gigs

oh cheers.
Yeah definitely gonna try and get as many songs as possible.

However we are going to start writing originals asap as well so we haven't set out just to be a covers band :D

I am sort of looking forward to our now broad hunt for gigs. (Believe me when I say we'll play anywhere for now!)

Re: Gigs

If I'm honest, really any gig possible to start off with.

I'm liking JJ's though. Become a nice favourite of mine of late.

So then to definitely put on the list is more songs asap!

Re: Gigs

Right... Well for now we've only got 45min, but we're gonna add to that asap. I didn't think most pubs would be for that long though? Although that's true about cover bands in evenings. However, we play covers but not mindlessly playing them originally, we do "make them our own" so to speak :D (and ...

Gigs

Okay, I'm guessing that this has been posted before but I was hoping for a new insight into this: I'm in a band (covers) and we've got a set list of 45min etc. (we've got a 15min set, 30min set and 45min set etc, the 45min can turn into an hour if we need to etc., just a bit of preamble here) We jus...

Re: LPB-1

Yeah, eh. $50 of eBay. It's not like super distorting sorta adding a bit of fuzz... I don't want to use full eq but the lack of middle indent for the knobs like in the rays is restrictive and hence if someone plays with it I would be able to set it straight away-kinda annoying I know. Whenever I've ...
