Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

I've had two of them and sold them both here. The first one had to go to help pay the mortgage on our house in the UK. The second one I sold it to a local guy in Auckland and he then had it for sale at Cadenza a few years ago. Unfortunately he ripped out the Wal circuitry and replaced it with a Bart...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Hey Tim I saw that and was very interested. Happy that it's gone to a good home though. I hear you re the old jazzes. There are only a few select gigs that I take my 62 J to now. I bought a 62 J RI a few years ago for the very same reason. :-)

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

I'll be honest, it sounds very good :-) All original inc the epoxy encased pickup. First one I saw was whilst watching Rick Danko in The Last Waltz although I think he had a P bass pickup in his. And danko sang his heart out whilst rocking a frettless, that guys a machine And what a voice too :-)

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

Tim, I'd say that the neck on my 62 is slimmer than the RI for sure. No stability or warping issues with either of them. My friend's 60 (or 64 I can't remember now lol) was a nice bass for sure, but I did find it underwhelming in comparison to both of mine. I've recently acquired a 68 Ampeg AMUB-1 f...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

I've got a mate who has a CS 60 Jazz and a CS 59 P. We AB'd the jazzes and between the CS & the RI I much prefered the RI. I have played many gigs happily with the 62 over the years and love the sound of it, but I use it mostly on the local gigs. I did see that 62 RI myself and I was sorely tempted ...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

I have a US 62 RI Jazz and an original 62 Jazz as well, I find them very very different beasts to be honest. The RI accompanies me to most gigs and the 62 I use more at gigs where I can keep an eye on it. :-)

Looks like the original maple fingerboard was replaced with rosewood board too? I see a skunk stripe there.

Re: Vintage P-bass pickups ?original or not

Looks genuine to me. I've just had the original pickups from my 71 P Bass rewound by Mr Glynn in Auckland and they looked identical to this. :-)

Re: Anyone G.A.S free?

Having both an original 62 Jazz and an AV 62 RI Jazz, I would have to say they are two very different beasts. I find the RI a bit heavier and the 62 has a tone and feel that many years down the track I still really enjoy. I've got a 71 P bass too which I find very very different from the mid 70s P B...

Re: What's hot on Trademe right now!

I was keen on the Hofner they had and was waiting til the end of the auction (as you do) to bid. Not sure I'd do that again :-)
