Re: Online bass builders

*Edit* Sorry removed the spam post you replied to. So your post may not make sense :D -john * Is that an active vase ? - do you do a five string? I don't wish to poke fun at your 1000year tradition but it is somewhat irrelevant. My ancestors (Celts) made heaps of stone circles and burial chambers 5...

Re: Want a 'stand in' gig?

Sound like a good topic. Yea its a good set to get em dancin. The songs in there that look a little girlie (Mamma Mia etc.) we do in the punk style. We do no slow ones - when they start dancin they don't stop. Be great to see what other covers bands are playing - I feel a bit of song theft comin on ...

Re: Want a 'stand in' gig?

Hi Brendon, thanks for the info - so here it is. Its a set list from a gig we did about a month ago. Not got the band names but you should know most of them. We've found a stand in now. He's called Derek Tearne - saw him playing with Nigel Gavin a few months ago and looked him up. He's done one prac...

Re: Want a 'stand in' gig?

Hi Jazzbass,
yea seem to have found the chink in his armour. I'd love to post the set list and I would if I was only a bit more computer literate. Got any tips for doing it? Its in Excel.

Re: Want a 'stand in' gig?

Hi Raynor, cheers for your interest Mate but I think we've found someone. He's seen the set list and agreed to the money and seems well up for it. Can't be 100% til he practices with us on Tues - we might just scare him off! If it falls through I'll be straight back to ya though Thanks Glyn

Re: Want a 'stand in' gig?

Hey thanks anyway Dude,
cheers for considering it.
Yea most of what we do are 90's n 00's stuff. We pretty much aim at folk that listen to 'The Rock'. Is there anyone else out there?

Want a 'stand in' gig?

Hi all, I've got a problem and maybe one of you could help. We've got a gig booked on 22nd Sept and our bass player can't do it. Is there anyone out there who wants a one off stand in gig? Our band is 'The Butchers of Sackville', we're a rock covers band - Green Day, U2, Jet etc. - we've been going ...

Re: Online bass builders

I can see why its an appealing idea. You get to have the woods, colour style of instrument you want made for you online. But what about tone, weight, ballance? There are a lot of great makers out there but also a lot of duff ones, woodworkers who think using pretty woods and making it look right are ...

Re: MusicMan Bongo

Wow, thats the first one of those I've seen. I like the body but not too sure about the headstock.
Yea it looks cool and I'm sure it sounds good too - MM only make good stuff.
I'm really pleased they exist but I don't want one.

A few worms wriggling about. He was talking about the instrument not the playing style. I think he's got a valid point, however, if I had a choice of basses I'd go for an old Stingray and a Jazz. Maybe I haven't grown up enough yet - ha ha. I've never owned a P-Bass either, in fact all i've got at t...

P-Bass - right first time

Hi All, I'm new to this forum. So pleased I found you. I'd like to start off by opening a can of worms. A few years ago now I was at a souncheck waiting for another band to do their stuff. I was there with my friend Brendon who's been a pro for 35 years and played with a huge range of musos includin...
