Re: Teaser - next project

Thanks John. I’m very happy with how it has turned out. And now I understand your love of a good P bass. Just takes some people a little longer than others

Re: Old Person - New Amp

Runs fine at 9 volts. Same jack as the normal Boss 9 volt power supply. The power pack needs to be at least 1000mA as it draws 500mA. Probably didn't sound quite as 'rich' to me as less voltage hitting the tube, but certainly fine for headphone practice.

Re: Old Person - New Amp

The Le Bass is plug into power, bass and headphones, kick the switch for the channel you want and you are in business. As Tony said, there are lots of EQ options which are a bit overwhelming when you are using the two channels combined. I got my Le Bass out of Australia which has the same voltage an...

Re: Old Person - New Amp

Hello. My names Nev and I am a preamp-aholic. I've been through a quite a few preamp/DIs looking for sonic nirvana. There are some good options for headphone practice, and all sorts of features that would make it useful when you get back to your house. It would be easy to start an argument ov...

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

I have 35cm of white and 45cm of black 'vintage' cloth covered wired, both in single pieces. That should be enough to completely rewire a Jazz bass control panel. You are welcome to it if you want it. PM me you postal address if you want it

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

I try www.guitarparts.co.nz first, and www.stewmac.com if they don’t have it. How much do you need. I might have enough for your re-wire sitting around in scraps. I assume you are after the vintage cloth covered wire?

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

Here is a photo of an old Jazz bass control plate which you can see all of the wiring. The silver thing with "Tone factory" on it is the capacitor I replced the little "plastic thing" with. On my Jazz bass, each pickup had a white (live) wire and a black (earth) wire. The earths are just soldered on...

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

Will post a picture tonight with the wiring. Can you tell me what colours the wires from the pickups are? Are the white and black?

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

Can help you Foal, but need a bit more information. Is it the normal single coil pickups and passive vol/vol/tone control plate?

Also, assuming it the stock configuration, you can change the tone quite a bit by the capacitor you use. Do you know what you have on the control plate?

Re: Happy 2019 Team

All good Nev? That NS cello looks amazing btw... How is your boys music going? Everything's good here thanks Reuben. The lad has one more year to go before he is finished engineering and is supposedly ready to be let loose on an unsuspecting world. He's home for the summer so we have been practicin...

Re: Teaser - next project

I am really happy with the way it sounds and plays! It is a bit boomy in the recording - I wanted to keep the eq flat, but I think the mics have enhanced the bottom end a little as it isn't boomy through the amp.

Re: Teaser - next project

Here is a sound demo to give you an idea of what it sounds like. The tone is just rolled off a little on the bass. The signal chain is Bass > 2 Notes Le Bass (clean channel) > Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 (set flat) > Ashdown 2x10. I used two microphones panned hard left and right so you can listen to one ...

Re: Teaser - next project

Thanks guys. The neck seems to have settled in and I’ve got it set up pretty much how I like it. I’ll try to do a little recording over the weekend and load that up :D
