Re: Shipping Bass From Overseas (USA)

That particular bass is a Rickenbacker factory made 4004Cii/5, one of only 13 made. As for the guy on TB, yes, I know Jeff Roth. Well, I haven't met him in person, but have had a lot of discussions. He did, at one time, own this bass. I ended up bringing it back with me the last time I made a trip t...

Re: Instrument Cables - ones that lasts and are good value for money?

I used to swear by Whirlwind, but their latest aren't anything special. I have friends who say Bayou cables (bayoucables.com) are great, but I've never tried 'em. 'Course, these are all U.S. cables, no idea if you can get them here. You could always use the NZ Post YouShop and order Bayou, I use it,...

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

The "plastic thing" is the tone capacitor, a 0.22uF (microfarad), likely 200 volt, but the voltage rating doesn't matter.

If you need any electronics help, let me know, it's what I do to support my bass habit...

Re: Happy 2019 Team

Happy New Year to you too! Sounds like a great idea, been pretty sparse lately... CJ! You still in Chch? Btw do you have a fretless Rickenbacker? Yes, I'm still in Chch, but trying to get a job with a company in Nelson that isn't even advertising for someone... As for a fretless Rickenbacker, does ...

Re: Any recommendations for Electronic repairs/modifications?

Just looking through posts and saw this one and wondered if you ever got your DC24 power sorted?

I bought a transformer from Aliexpress to run my Rane DC24 and AC22B units, works great.

I hope you got yours going, if not, let me know and I'll see what I can do...

Nice sounding bass! Good warm lows with a nice clear "mwah" on the high notes.
Well done!

Re: Teaser - next project

What sort of varnish are you using?

Most varnish I've heard of for guitars is "Conversion Varnish" which is a 2-part polyurethane which must be mixed just before use so doesn't come in spray cans. Good, tough stuff, but you have to have the right equipment.
