Re: Wiring Kit Pot Values?

Higher values in the tone pot will allow more highs through, so can give a brighter tone.

A higher value in the volume pot might give a slightly higher output volume, but that's more dependent on the pickup itself.

Re: Show us your Bass!

The Ric 5 Was that done by the guy on TB? No, it was made in the RIC factory. They offered the 4004Cii/5 for a while, but it didn't sell well and had problems with the pickups not being wide enough. According to John Hall, RIC's CEO, they only made 13 of them. This one is modified with Nordstrand a...

Re: Show us your Bass!

I just realised I never put up any pictures of my latest bass. I brought this one back on my last trip to the U.S. It's a Rickenbacker 4004Cii/5... C7J_0094.jpg I've got a full picture that's 533x800 & 184kBytes, but it's apparently too big even though it's less that the 256kB allowed (see https://w...

Re: Shipping Bass From Overseas (USA)

That particular bass is a Rickenbacker factory made 4004Cii/5, one of only 13 made. As for the guy on TB, yes, I know Jeff Roth. Well, I haven't met him in person, but have had a lot of discussions. He did, at one time, own this bass. I ended up bringing it back with me the last time I made a trip t...

Re: Instrument Cables - ones that lasts and are good value for money?

I used to swear by Whirlwind, but their latest aren't anything special. I have friends who say Bayou cables (bayoucables.com) are great, but I've never tried 'em. 'Course, these are all U.S. cables, no idea if you can get them here. You could always use the NZ Post YouShop and order Bayou, I use it,...

Re: Jazz Bass wiring

The "plastic thing" is the tone capacitor, a 0.22uF (microfarad), likely 200 volt, but the voltage rating doesn't matter.

If you need any electronics help, let me know, it's what I do to support my bass habit...
