Re: fender

Well for me, after 30 odd tears playing, I really liked the higher end sgr basses. I play with fingers and found they had a big sound, thru 2 x 15 JBL E140's they were awesome. The active circuitry gives the bass big bottom end and real presence. The squier on the other hand, I only brought to get a...

Re: fender

Well, I got it Its a nice little bass for the price. Feels a bit toylike after the 5 string. It sounds good from the front pickup. I'm not so fussed with the sound from the bridge pickup although if you use it a little in conjunction with the neck pickup it does clean up the sound a bit. I'm surpris...

Re: fender

oh dear.........decisions... What I think 'm going to do is......... I gonna try and get the one on TM This will at least allow me to get a feel for fender basses, body and neck etc, even if tone is not the same as P or J. I like the idea of the Jazz neck as me last gigging bass was an Ibanez SDGR10...

Re: Swr working mans 300.....any good?

I live over on the west coast south island and the few times i've been over to ChCh and been into the rockshop there they are more interested in talking among themselves than actually doing their jobs. So far they have lost out on about $5000.00 in sales to the bass rockshop up in Auckland beacuse ...

Re: fender

Good info guys. Just to confuse the issue a bit, I really like the look of this on TM. I like the idea of the j/p pup and love the overall look of the gat. http://www.trademe.co.nz/music-instruments/instruments/guitar-bass/bass-guitars/auction-565985110.htm I know its not what we were talking about ...

Re: fender

HI tim1 Good advice, but when your local shop has only 1 squier P bass in stock it hard to compare them. By the time I drive 3hrs to CHCH to check out a store with more, thanks to the cost of gas etc, I might as well have brought a higher quality MIM or MIJ. Basically I have always resisted getting ...

Re: Swr working mans 300.....any good?

Yeah, mine has an expanded metal mesh, screwed in. Also, I have just discovered a GK manual and apparently that the amp has a button to press for 5/6 str so am gonna try that too. Maybe it will help. I have always though speaker size had little to do with its depth. Its more the specs and cab tuning...

Re: Swr working mans 300.....any good?

I thought I would report back about my new (to me) gear. The bass is a Traben JOhn Moyer Signature 5 string with active pickups and aguilar preamp and two double row pickups similar to MM. I got it 2nd hand on TM without trying it 1st, and luckily I like the sound. It is a 34" scale. It has a 5 posi...

Now I just need a cab to suit probably a 210 for now. I like the price of the ashdown speakers so will probably go with them unless anyo...
