Thanks to both of you for responding. I hear what you are saying with respect to aesthetics, it does look like a beast! I think I will go for it, and I really appreciate the guitarparts.co.nz URL. Oh, and the note re: saddle filing - I had missed that and this will thus add to the cost, since I don'...

BadAss Bass II bridge

Hi: I wonder if anyone could offer any advice on upgrading my Fender Jazz bridge to a BadAss Bass II. The write ups/reviews look positive, and it does not appear to be either too expensive to purchase nor complex to install (plus, the standard Fender bridge looks cheap and nasty, and I'd be glad to ...

As I use a SWR 4004 head, I dial in the 'aural enhancer' to a certain extent, but use the limiter (very slightly) as well. Can get a nice balance, without an external compressor...a small amount of bass chorus pedal helps to in terms of overall sound. Also, if I keep the mids high, and lower the sad...

Civic theatre...I live in Wgtn but travel. I was impressed not because of what you played, but purely because it was so obvious that you were playing so well inside your comfort zone (please don't take that the wrong way - my band plays 190 bpm on stage for certain songs...and that means 3 finger pl...

Financially it's not really that much of an an issue...more that "lug gear around" counter philosophy (WRT another 4x10)! Also, that level of power is really only necessary for prac...I let the PA take over in gigs and stay close to the rig! Having seen you play on one occasion, and knowing your bac...

Sorry, Fender Jazz....simple fat sound, slaps like a monster...drawback: typical Fender build..loose knobs, cheap bridge, dodgy saddles. But it remains my trustworthy friend!

Your mention of portability is of interest; the SWR team designed the 4x10 so that it has no wheels..and yet weighs a considerable amount (takes 2 to move it anywhere and with lots of moaning!)...uhhm. The rigs major "problem" is that it has to compete (at practice time) with a drummer whose use of ...

Good luck with the site by the way!

SWR Workingmans 4004 head
SWR Workingmans 4x10T cab

Needs a 1x15 to really round out the bottom end, but everyone seems to love the sound...handles slap nicely with my Fender Jazz. Only delivers about 270w of the 400 since the 4x10 has an 8 Ohm impedance...
