Re: Amp Setup

Well, it would probably work, there shouldn't be any harm in trying at any rate. Seems a little convoluted to me in terms of a live set up but I suppose it's no more complicated than a pedal board.. Remember even if you bypass the secondary amp's EQ by going through the effects return, the cabinet w...

Where to get cabinet covers made?

Hi all, I'm just wondering if there's anyone in NZ who would make decent cabinet covers for a reasonable price? I've got these Aguilar 112 cabinets and an annoying design flaw is that there are no rubber feet on the opposing end to where the handle is, so if you put the cabinet directly on the groun...

Re: What's your rig?

Just added a second SL112 to the set up with awesome results. I was finding in high volume settings with the one cabinet the tone wasn't sounding as good as I knew it should, so I think adding the second cabinet to the mix has solved that issue - much louder and able to push all those nice tones at ...

Re: Active to Active/Passive mod?

What I have done (I possess no skill with wiring electronics) in the past is order a new pre-amp from http://www.bestbassgear.com/ , and then brought it to mr Glynn to wire in in place of the old one. This website is good because they pre-wire it in whatever knob configuration you want, so just make...

Nah it's a standard 34" scale, 20 frets (or however many frets goes up to the Eb)

Bit of a Christmas present to myself :D

Godin Shifter 4 classic, nice P/J thing discovered in the rock shop. Made in Canada, IMO holds up nicely to MIA fenders but at half the New Zealand price (they are actually similarly priced overseas by the looks)

Re: Fodera Emperor 5 Standard

Are you talking the Chinese knock off or the guy who built a custom replica from parts? There were two up.

I know the guy who is selling the latter bass if you're interested and he doesn't relist

Re: Learning a 'difficult / tricky' song

If you can only play it at half speed, practice at half speed until you've got it nailed. Then bump it up by increments of 5 bpm or so, make sure you can nail at the new tempo, bump it up again etc until you are the original tempo.

Re: Fodera Emperor 5 Standard

Well I've been to a janek gwizdala clinic where he was playing his fodera, which isn't the emperor exactly but looks to be a quite similar custom version.. All I can say is it sounded friggen sweet, but of course it helps that he is an incredible player. I asked him what he thought about playing tho...

Re: thinking about having a break or changing bands

I seem to be in a never ending limbo going between "I've got way too many commitments I've got to drop a project / start turning away new students" and "damn I wish I had something on about now!!" The balance is a challenge.. I have found it safer to stay just a little bit "too busy" because sooner ...

Re: What's your rig?

http://i.imgur.com/6fG2rPY.jpg As of today... Holy crap this thing is good. And loud!! The whole set up weighs about 13kg as well. I think this will do me for jazz and the majority of rock stuff.. Will eventually save up for the second 112 cab to cover the rare situation where I have to be really, ...

Re: Are there less bands right now?

Ahh unfortunately I was looking for top of the line as I'm on the bus every day with it and don't like bringing hard cases to gigs as I've often not got much space... Went with the mono vertigo but had to import it from the states myself. But that's all in the thread I made about it a while ago. Act...
