Re: Anywhere to source Seymour Duncan Basslines in NZ??

Thanks for this. I'll have to see if they have moved location down here since the quake or I'll just have a look through their online store.

Re: How'd you start your love affair?

I was 11 years old. My dad was owed some money on some audio equipment (he's an audiophile) and was given an extremely solid Hondo 4 string P-Bass copy and a mid 60's Traynor tube combo amp. The first night he had it he let me have a quick little play on it. I learned "Simple Song" by Sly and the Fa...

Anywhere to source Seymour Duncan Basslines in NZ??

Hi everyone, Is there a shop carrying SD Basslines anywhere in NZ? If so, where? If not, are there any overseas suppliers all of you like using? I'm finally going to start building a fretless and I'm not sure if I'll use the Basslines for it or drop those in my current bass and use the MEC's out of ...

Re: Met any famous bass players?

For me, Victor Wooten and Steve Bailey about 15 years ago and Stanley Clarke 20 years ago. If/when I meet Bootsy and Larry Graham I will be in Bass heaven meeting almost all of my bass heroes (Jaco and Jamerson I'll look up on the other side).

Re: Top bass lines of all time ...

Some great songs in this thread. I don't think I saw Peg - Steely Dan - Chuck Rainey in there though. It's not my favorite line of all time but it is a nice driving groove that really is fun as anything to play. Plus, I would put "Simple Song" up further on that list (first song I learned when I sta...

Re: Quick opinion - Ashdown Five Fifteen or Warwick Blue Cab

it just didn't give me the sound I wanted. That's what it's all about. Oh I fully understand. If I had the money I would have went for one of the bigger Ashdown stacks as they had a great sound. Just liked the BC combo better. Still wondering how the Ashdown would have sounded through its LineOut f...

Re: Quick opinion - Ashdown Five Fifteen or Warwick Blue Cab

Wow, I thought I had answered this. In the end I bought myself the Blue Cab 60. I really do like it. Great for recording, very portable, great sound, and loud enough for practice situations. When I'm finally ready to play out again I'll more than likely get myself an Ampeg head again with a decent c...

Loopers

Hi guys and gals, Loopers. Anyone using them? If so, what are you using? Are you GAS'ing for something else or do you love what you have? Just wondering as I'm wanting to experiment a bit more as what little recording I'm starting to do could easily be accomplished live by just me with a loop pedal/...

Quick opinion - Ashdown Five Fifteen or Warwick Blue Cab 60

Hi everyone, Just a quick question. Some of you may remember me as the guy whose wife bought him a bass for his birthday. Well, she has now given me a budget of $500 for an amp. I'm looking at the two above. My gut is to go with the Warwick (playing a Fortress 5 String Warwick Rockbass) as I've play...

Re: What's with the Warwick hate???

in one year sold all of my gear for a woman Blimey! I got mine for the price of a Cadbury's Creme Egg. Resession prices eh? Ohhhhhh! Your confident your beloved doesn't read the board then? There was a great line on Home Improvement ("Tooltime") that comes to mind. "A man can say thin...

Re: What's with the Warwick hate???

i don't mind the sound of them actually, although a little "restrained" for my usual tastes (ie a little too "clean"). comfort-wise, i think they're actually really nice (although this is coming from a die-hard Rickenbacker player), but maybe a little too light for me. but the main gripe i have is ...

Re: What's with the Warwick hate???

I don't "hate" Warwick basses, but from the ones I've played on I've found they are not my style at all, probably the most uncomfortable basses I've played. But of course, they are perfect for some people! I haven't come across more Warwick hate than say 6-string hate, so I wouldn't be too worried ...
