Re: Help from Zero!

Hey there. Short answer: take it to a luthier Long answer: I have no idea, take it to a luthier  Sorry! I got all my work done by Ashcustomworks in Auckland, and haven't got the foggiest about the wiring. I definitely suggest a luthier because I am pretty sure that the preamp can be damaged do...

Re: String recommendation

Whoops, didn't read that part. I use DR DDT strings for my low-tuning band.

Re: String recommendation

DR Sunbeams are nice. I have recently imported most of my strings (better selection) - I use La Bella Quarter Rounds on my P bass, and they might be what you're after tonally.

Re: Bass Dilemma - What Would You Do ?

I reckon you should decide on your priority - if it's a covers band, I would be more inclined to go with a democratic view on what 'sounds' better. If it's an originals band, tell them to piss off and then start complaining about their gear  One thing to think about, though, is whether the aud...

Re: Wide straps: any idea where to get them?

I have a very fat (at least 4 inches) Levy's leather strap that I don't want anymore. Hardly been used - I got it for xmas last year.

Re: Use guitar pedals for bass?

Some work, some do not. You will have to test them to know for sure, and it's not always easy to test at a realistic volume.

The general rule is...no.

I have one bass I don't need that could be traded for it...it would also save anybody from bedroom renovations.

Re: DI vs. Microphone: wisest practical investment?

My biggest problem with earplugs is that I have small ear canals and the E.A.R ones I have now are uncomfortable, and can make my ears hurt a fair bit after a long pracitce. As for gigs, we've released our EP (Icaro) for free/name your price. Got lots of downloads, overseas fans etc., but it's just ...

Re: DI vs. Microphone: wisest practical investment?

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Got a few things to weigh up (particularly some expensive earplugs) so I might have to put up with crappy Behringer for now...but I am scouring TM for a JDI, as I do think it's the way to go. We're having enough trouble getting any gigs, so we probably can't be too choo...
