Re: Show us your Bass!

Very nice Showking! And cost a pretty penny too I bet. thanks! That's a beauty, man. Nice pickup covers. Do they feel better than plastic, or was just an aesthetic choice? the pickup covers match the ebony dot inlays on the fretboard. i chose it because it compliments the bass aesthetically, and it...

Re: Show us your Bass!

I have sold my Lakland Skyline 55-02 Deluxe. http://i138.photobucket.com/albums/q251/sungjin891118/ampeg3.jpg Now I have had a Lakland USA bass built for me over about 6 months. Here is the finished product, John Piruccello (president of Lakland) holding the bass. I'll have this in my hands VERY soo...

Re: Ampeg SVT Micro-VR + SVT 210AV + SVT 210AV

Yeah that's a very tasty looking rig. It's pretty tall huh. How stable is it? Nice to have that sound coming out at ear level 8) it's actually pretty stable, but of course i would use it sensibly. i wouldn't put it next to someone who moves crazily and has the potential of banging into it on stage....

200watts @ 4 ohms. bassgearmagazine's analysis showed it's actually capable of 260watts though. it's very portable yes :)

Re: What's your rig?

That looks rad. How does it sound? I guess it's solid state? how many watts? Looks easy to transport hmmmmmmm 8) sounds really good. pretty close to the 70s SVT 810 tone-wise. it's rated at 200watts but bass gear magazine's analysis showed it goes up to 260watts. very easy to transport! i can carry...

Ampeg SVT Micro-VR + SVT 210AV + SVT 210AV

First thoughts: my first impression was that this rig looks SO beautiful! the packaging was excellent by Ampeg. I was impressed by the double boxing and the head and cab had foam on the corners so it wouldn't move around inside the box. This rig came from Florida all the way across the world to New...

Re: Double Bass; it's a big instrument.

with electric bass, i have my eq generally flat with slight mid scoop + treble and bass boost

on the same amp, for upright bass, i have my bass cut half way, treble boost half way, mid cut fully.
it sounds horrible on the same settings as my bass guitar, and usually itll feedback like mad

Re: Double Bass; it's a big instrument.

Ah, yes, those 400s sound great! The Christophers (when I was in Pete's shop) sounded better than all the other basses - I didn't try the Pollman, I don't know why but probably because it was way out of my price range. What sort of music are you playing on the Christopher? im playing mainly jazz on...

Re: Double Bass; it's a big instrument.

i have a christopher 400 upright.
when i went to pete's shop last year i tried the christopher 100 and the 400.
the 100 sounded just as good. the only main difference was that it looked cheap visually compared to the 400 with the fancy wood.
i ended up getting the 400 :)
